Heihachi had been caught in the explosion and was believed to be dead at the time. When Hon-Maru was destroyed by an army of Jack robots, Jinpachi was freed. Sometime later, he died of starvation, until he was later animated by a demonic entity. Jinpachi attempted to retake the company from Heihachi, but failed and was imprisoned by him beneath the Mishima family temple, Hon-Maru. However, Jinpachi's life took a turn for the worse when the bitter Heihachi staged a coup and stole the company from him. Unlike most of the Mishimas, Jinpachi is an honorable fighter with a strong sense of wisdom.
He instead resolved to devote his family's legacy solely to martial arts. After the war, he regretted the company's direction, and it is stated that he abhorred needless conflict. He expanded the corporation into an industrial empire by capitalising on military demand during World War 2. Jinpachi is the father of Heihachi Mishima and the founder of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
